The total estimated cost to get your Texas real estate license is typically between $600 and $1,000. This total includes your pre-licensing education (which varies by school), the $205 TREC application fee, the $43 to $54 Pearson VUE state exam fee, and roughly $40 to $50 for fingerprinting and background checks.
The Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) requires all new applicants to complete 180 hours of qualifying education. This coursework is divided into six mandatory 30-hour courses: Principles of Real Estate I, Principles of Real Estate II, Law of Agency, Law of Contracts, Promulgated Contract Forms, and Real Estate Finance.
The Texas real estate sales agent exam is administered by Pearson VUE and consists of 125 total questions. It is divided into an 85-question National section and a 40-question State section.
