Frequently Asked Questions

North Carolina Real Estate FAQs

Get answers to the most common questions about getting licensed and advancing your real estate career in North Carolina

  • To become a licensed real estate agent in North Carolina, the North Carolina Real Estate Commission (NCREC) requires you to:

    • Be at least 18 years old and a US citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified alien under federal law.

    • Complete an approved 75-hour North Carolina Broker Pre-Licensing course.

    • Submit your license application and pass a background check.

    • Pass the North Carolina real estate licensing exam (administered by Pearson VUE). Once you pass the exam, you will be issued a Provisional Broker License.

  • North Carolina is unique because all new real estate agents start as "Provisional Brokers." This is an entry-level status that requires you to work under the supervision of a licensed Broker-in-Charge. To remove the "provisional" status and become a full Broker, you must complete 90 hours of Post-Licensing education within 18 months of receiving your initial license.

At Fastpass Learning, we offer both the 75-hour pre-licensing course and the required post-licensing courses to guide you through your entire career.

  • The state of North Carolina requires exactly 75 hours of pre-licensing education. Because Fastpass Learning's courses are 100% online and self-paced, how quickly you finish is entirely up to you! Motivated students treating it like a full-time job can finish the coursework in as little as two to three weeks, while others prefer to study on nights and weekends over a few months.

  • We want you to study with confidence, which is why we offer a "Like it or Don't Pay" guarantee. If you enroll in our North Carolina pre-licensing course and decide within the first 30 days that it isn't the right fit for your learning style, simply reach out to us for a full refund (provided you haven't completed a certain percentage of the course). It’s completely risk-free to start your real estate journey today.
