Frequently Asked Questions
No. The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) does not permit remote or at-home testing for this exam. You must take the test in person at an authorized Pearson VUE test center, which has locations throughout the state.
There is no limit to the number of times you can retake the Florida real estate exam, as long as your 63-hour pre-licensing course completion certificate remains valid (it expires after two years). You just need to pay the exam fee for each attempt and schedule your retake through Pearson VUE.
The exam is known to be challenging because it requires you to apply complex concepts rather than simply memorizing vocabulary. Unlike some states, Florida combines national principles and state-specific laws into a single 100-question exam. To pass, you must achieve a score of at least 75% (75 correct answers).
The 100-question exam covers a mix of national real estate principles and state-specific laws. Major topics include Florida license law, real estate contracts, property rights, mortgages, and real estate math. Our Fastpass Exam Prep package includes a comprehensive QBank to help you master every category.
Consistent, targeted practice is your best strategy. Instead of just re-reading the textbook, take full-length practice exams to get used to the format and timing. Focus heavily on Florida-specific laws, brokerage operations, and real estate math, as these areas are heavily tested and require strict attention to detail.
The exam fee paid to Pearson VUE is $36.75 per attempt. However, this is just for the test itself. Before you can sit for the exam, you must also pay a DBPR license application fee of $83.75, plus the costs for your pre-licensing course and digital fingerprinting for the background check.
You are given a total of 3.5 hours (210 minutes) to complete the 100-question exam. Because the national and state portions are combined into one test, it is up to you to manage your time effectively across all questions.
